Among the vast number of engineering companies in the region, TES were selected to speak at the recent Engineers Ireland event which was held in Belfast.\u00a0 The event which ran in response to research undertaken by Queens\u2019 University and Ulster University, provided an opportunity for students to gain an insight into the world of engineering.<\/p>\n
TES Design Engineer Peter Neilly was selected to lead guest speakers at the event wherein he illustrated his career path and hope for future development.\u00a0 Peter discussed his role at TES and spoke to many upcoming graduates about the benefits of choosing Engineering as a discipline and the engineering sector as a career path.<\/p>\n
The event was attended by approximately 40 students across multiple engineering disciplines and Peter had an opportunity to deliver his insight and to speak to many candidates on a one-to-one\u00a0 basis.<\/p>\n
The evening began with Farrans HR Manager, Cara Hanna providing an employer\u2019s perspective of compiling CV\u2019s and how best to prepare for interviews.\u00a0 This was followed by Peter and two other graduates from Terex and OCSC (O\u2019Connor, Sutton, Cronin) who spoke of their respective experience of dealing with the final year of university, applying for jobs, and providing insight into the process of getting a foothold on the job market.<\/p>\n
Peter, along with other graduates, were each able to give a different perspective, with Richard working as a Civil Engineer, Conor in Business Management, and Peter as a Mechanical Design Engineer at TES.<\/p>\n
When talks concluded, the floor opened up for questions from the students, with many wide-ranging lines of enquiry about the world of engineering.<\/p>\n
It was an extremely successful event for Engineers Ireland, where all speakers got the chance to talk directly to the students and answer any further questions they had about the world of work.<\/p>\n
