{"id":6758,"date":"2021-01-29T11:52:50","date_gmt":"2021-01-29T11:52:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.tesgroup.com\/?p=6758"},"modified":"2021-02-01T12:02:57","modified_gmt":"2021-02-01T12:02:57","slug":"tes-complete-tuam-upgrade","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/s313789864.websitehome.co.uk\/?p=6758","title":{"rendered":"TES Complete Upgrade to WwTP in Tuam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>TES have recently completed a project to design and build a substantial upgrade to Tuam Wastewater Treatment Plant (WwTP) and Weir Road Pumping Station, which will improve performance and energy efficiency of the WwTP operation.<\/p>\n<p>Irish Water, working in partnership with Galway County Council, made a significant investment to complete substantial upgrades of the wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) at Tuam, Co. Galway. TES delivered the scheme on behalf of Irish Water\u2019s Capital Programmes and worked in close partnership with Irish Water and Galway County Council throughout.<\/p>\n<p>This project has upgraded and modernised several elements of the wastewater treatment process at the plant. This includes upgrades to the Weir Rd Pumping Station as well as the inlet works, sludge treatment and aeration systems at the WWTP to ensure compliance with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations.<\/p>\n<h3>Benefits<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Modernise and improve the performance of the wastewater treatment process at the plant<\/li>\n<li>Improve the sustainability of the plant through the installation of energy efficient equipment, reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions<\/li>\n<li>Ensure compliance with the Urban Wastewater Treatment Regulations 2001<\/li>\n<li>Provide for growth and development in Tuam and surrounding areas<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Steps<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>Installing a new sludge imports reception facility at the WWTP to remove the current practice of importing sludges at the Weir Rd. Pumping Station which is located near a residential area<\/li>\n<li>Upgrading the current sludge treatment works which includes the replacement of the old sludge dewatering presses<\/li>\n<li>Upgrades to the inlet works and screening system at the plant<\/li>\n<li>Installing a new energy-efficient fine bubble diffusion aeration system to replace the old problematic surface aerators<\/li>\n<li>Upgrading the controls, ferric dosing pipework and other ancillary works<\/li>\n<li>Construction of a new internal site access road and exit from the plant<\/li>\n<li>Installing a new mechanical screen at the Weir Rd Pumping Station to replace the existing manual-raked screen<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Investing in Ireland\u2019s wastewater infrastructure is a key priority for Irish Water.
