TES have recently successfully developed a suite of control panels that are based on a re-usable design with ‘plug and play’ functionality; reducing design, manufacturing, installation time and commissioning for Phosphorous Removal (P-Scheme) projects throughout the UK.<\/p>\n
As part of the Water Framework Directive, the amount of phosphorus has become a measure of the health of rivers and watercourses. Phosphorus is a normal part of domestic sewage and ends up at sewage works as it is contained in household products such as shampoo, washing powders and washing up liquid. When phosphates are at high levels in water bodies it can trigger algal blooms that block sunlight from reaching lower waters, thereby causing plants to die. As the plants and algae decay they cause depletion of oxygen levels, resulting in fish suffocating.<\/p>\n
In order to develop the solution TES worked closely with client teams and delivery partners, a number of collaborative Workshops were organised during the design phase to discuss and agree individual aspects of the design. Additional Subject Matter Experts from the various parties were invited as required, when specific items such as Telemetry or civil requirements were the matter of interest.<\/p>\n
The aim of the TES project was to produce a suite of control panels that could be used on all the sites. The outcome of the collaboration resulted in the development of a re-usable design suite with a \u2018plug and play\u2019 facility to reduce design, manufacturing, installation time and commissioning for all Projects.<\/p>\n
The solution included designing modular PLC and HMI code to enable any combination of control panels to be installed on site, connected and enabled on the HMI. An engineer can commission the site as required via pre-commissioned PLC code, removing the requirement for a PLC commissioning engineer. This provides further significant savings in both time and cost.<\/p>\n
